Wilma Sparkman, 87, of Columbus died Friday, January 5, 2007 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. Services are 11:00 am Thursday, January 11 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Del Lape officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Thursday, also at the church. Inurnment will be at the Immaculate Heart Church in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Wilma Sparkman was born August 9, 1919 in Humphrey to Frank and Mae (Simon) Haferland. She grew up on the family farm in the Humphrey area and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis Schools. Wilma worked in Norfolk before moving to Denver, Colorado. She married Richard L. Sparkman in Denver on May 10, 1946. In 1955 her and husband moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where they owned and operated the North Avenue Furniture Store for over 40 years. Wilma moved to Columbus in July of 2006. She enjoyed golf, traveling, and being with family. She was a member of the Catholic Faith.
