William &Quot;Bill&Quot; Wiese

William "Bill" Theodore Wiese died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Columbus Community Hospital.

William "Bill" Theodore Wiese was born July 27, 1920 on the family farm in Madison County, Nebraska to Henry and Rose (Borer) Wiese. He grew up in Lindsay and attended Lindsay Holy Family School. Bill served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army during World War II. His honors included the American Theater Service Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Ribbon, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star. On August 9, 1949 he was united in marriage to Cleo Mae Gilsdorf in Cornlea. Cleo passed away on June 30, 1982. Bill helped his Uncle farm before buying a farm of his own by Lindsay. His heart was his farming, but in 1972, Bill moved to Columbus where he worked for Middle State Manufacturing and then Fleischer Manufacturing. He retired in 1990.

Bill was an active practitioner of his faith at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. He eagerly spent much time with perpetual and nocturnal adoration, RCIA instruction, served as a lector, altar server, and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was active in Bible Study at the nursing home. Bill was also a member of the American Legion, the Shamrock Club and helped at the Food Pantry. He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking and spent countless hours making crafts for his grandchildren.

Brother Leonard (Geri) Wiese of Columbus, NE
Brother Dave (Delores) Wiese of Lindsay, NE

He is preceded in death by:

Grandson Korey Wiese
Sister Eleanor Wiese
Brothers Edward, Raymond, Harold, and Richard Wiese
