William &Quot;Bill&Quot; Schwartzer

William "Bill" Schwartzer died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

William S. Schwartzer was born May 21, 1934 in Columbus, Nebraska to John and Anna (Wilcynski) Schwartzer. He grew up in Columbus and attended St. Anthony Grade School and graduated from Kramer High. He then attended Green River College in Yakima, Washington. He served in the United States Army from 1954 - 1957. He continued his service in the Army reserves until 1962. On April 26, 1958 Bill married the love of his life Marcia Dean at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. He worked for Becton-Dickinson and Behlen Manufacturing before moving to Yakima where he worked for the newspaper for 5 years. They then moved to Niobrara, Nebraska where he owned and operated his own newspaper from 1972 - 1977. Bill then was an over the road truck driver for 20 years before working at Wal-Mart for seven years until he retired. Bill was a member of American Legion Hartman Post #84 and V.F.W. Post #3704. He loved to go hunting with his family and friends, fishing, reading, gardening and most of all to be with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed his cats, Buddy and Nikko. Bill was a loving and caring man who would lend a hand to all that needed it. He was a friend to every stranger.

Daughter: Tamara M. (Jeff) Forman of Norfolk, NE
Sister: Pearl Kosinski of Columbus, NE
10 Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren
10 Great Grandchildren, 4 Step Great Grandchildren
Brother-in-law & Sister-in-law: Gary & Barbara Dean of Fremont, NE

He was preceded in death by:
