William "Bill" Micek

William "Bill" Micek , of Columbus died Thursday, July 4, 2019 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Thursday, July 11, 2019 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Military Honors will be conducted by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.  Visitation is on Wednesday, July 10 from 5-7 pm at McKown Funeral Home with a Vigil service to follow at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at St. Isidore Church.  Interment is in All Saints Cemetery.

William "Bill" Micek was born August 11, 1946 in Columbus, Nebraska to Edward "Jeep" and Corrine "Corky" (Nearhood) Micek. He graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1964 and went on to UNL and Kearney State College.  Bill served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from April 13, 1966 – March 5, 1970.  On June 9, 1972 He was united in marriage to Christine (Smith) Micek at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus.  Bill worked for NPPD for 29 years until retiring.  He then worked for the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross Prairie Valley Chapter in Columbus.  Bill lived most of his life in Columbus except for 5 years in Weatherford, Texas.  He was a member of St. Isidore Church, Knights of Columbus, V.F.W. #3704 and Hartman Post #84 American Legion.  Bill enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
