William J. "Bill" Jaworski, age 82, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Morys Haven in Columbus. Funeral Services are 10:30 am Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Jeff Loseke officiating. Visitation is on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00pm with a 7:30pm Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 8:00 -10:00 am also at the funeral home. Interment is in All Saints Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.
William J. Jaworski was born March 6, 1923 in Columbus, Nebraska to Jacob "Jake" and Pauline (Grzywa) Jaworski. He graduated in 1941 from St. Bonaventure School where he also lettered on the Men's Basketball Team. He worked for a short time on the Union Pacific Railroad until entering the US Army during WWII. He was stationed in the Philippines until his discharge in 1945. He returned to Columbus where he continued to work for the Union Pacific Railroad until retiring in 1984 after 43 years of service. He married Delores (Zybach) Channer on August 28, 1978. Bill was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3704 and Hartman Post #84 American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, NASCAR racing, and football.
