Bill died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at his home on Brandenburgh Lake.
William Con Brandenburgh was born November 21, 1932 in Bellwood, Nebraska to William and Margaret (Mares) Brandenburgh. He graduated from Kramer High School in 1951. While still in high school Bill joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War from 1951 - 1957. On October 13, 1952 he was united in marriage to Gloria Lassek at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Bill worked for the Columbus Police Department from March 1958 - July 1989. He served with the Region Ten Emergency Management for Platte, Boone, Colfax and Merrick Counties. Bill's part-time jobs also included Mares Construction, Brandenburgh Sand & Gravel, Behlen Manufacturing, Scrub Car Wash, McDonald's Security and farming. His hobbies included dogs, 4-wheeling, traveling, hunting, swimming, bird watching cutting wood and visiting with the lake families. He was a member of St. Anthony Church, Hartman Post # 84 American Legion, 40/8 Club, life time member of the V.F.W.#3704 serving 2 terms as commander, life time member NE Association of Emergency Management and the Police Officer Association. In 1978 he received the Outstanding Columbus Police Officer Award.
