William J. Beiermann, age 87 of Platte Center, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
William James Beiermann was born August 6, 1924 in Lindsay, Nebraska to Frederick and Agnes (Kurtenbach) Beiermann. He received his education at District #29 in Lindsay. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. He served aboard the Heavy Crusier, USS New Orleans. He worked at Carlson's Store in Lindsay, Cudahy and Swift Packing Plants in Omaha and worked as a farm hand in Minnesota for Joe Juline. He married Ruth Goering on June 17, 1952 at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. Along with his farming Bill was a metal dealer. He was a member of the American Legion, Platte Center Lions Club, St. Joseph Church and served on the Shell Creek Township Board. He enjoyed attending auctions, his farm, travelling, senior bowling and was a recycler before it was cool.
