Marvin "Whitey" Gustafson died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Genoa Long Term Care Center.
Marvin "Whitey" Verner Gustafson was born February 14, 1943 in Stromsburg, NE to Verner and Doris (Lindquist) Gustafson. He grew up on the farm and attended Stromsburg schools. Whitey married Gerry Anderson and to this union two children were born. Whitey worked for a grain elevator construction business for a few years before going to work at the Stromsburg CO-OP elevator and at that time also raised hogs with his cousin Steve Lindquist. Whitey then went to work for his lifelong friend, Doug Peterson, at Grain Products, Inc. He worked there for many years before buying Lil' Joe's Bar in Silver Creek in 1988. Whitey was married to Connie Stark in 1986. Whitey was a great athlete in high school which continued on in his love for sports throughout his life. He enjoyed following his children's and grandchildren's athletic careers. His favorite pastime was fishing and visiting with friends at Lil' Joe's.
