Warren B. McLaughlin, age 90, of Columbus died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.
Warren B. McLaughlin was born May 25, 1923 in Woodbine, Iowa to Dean and Rose (Lovell) McLaughlin. He attended Olympus Country School. He graduated from Logan High School in 1941. He then went to work at Glen L. Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha. He was inducted into the service on January 1943 and served with the Eighth Air Force in England during WWII. He was discharged in August 1945 as a sergeant. Warren met Shirley Mace of Missouri Valley while in the service. They were married on August 12, 1947. To this union the following children were born, Mark Warren, John Jack Vincent, Timothy Craig, twins, Colleen Ann and Cathleen Marie. Warren then went to the University of Nebraska-Omaha and graduated in 1949. He worked for the accounting firm Irwin-Imig before moving to Columbus in 1950 where he began working with Mead Lumber Company as office manager and comptroller. He continued until his retirement in 1989. He played in the Pioneer Nite League, semi pro baseball. He also coached youth baseball and girls softball. He was a charter member of the Columbus Sertoma Club where he held offices of president, board chairman, treasurer, and flag chairman. Warren was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Knights of Columbus #938, Holy Name, American Legion, VFW, St. Bonaventure School Board, Score Chapter, Meals on Wheels and Perpetual Adoration. He had a great sense of humor. Warren enjoyed his family and attending their activities. He was a community volunteer in many areas. He loved going to the opera, dancing, traveling and watching the Cubs play baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Bernard, Vincent, Maurice and Howard, sisters: Aileen Pietig,
Marjorie Kempers, Esther Goff and, infant granddaughter: Taryn Warder
