Vladimir Ptacek

Vladimir J. Ptacek, age 91, of Omaha, formerly Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Gretna Community Living Center in Gretna, Nebraska. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2006 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend David Fulton officiating. Burial is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Monday morning from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m., also at the funeral home.

Vladimir J. Ptacek was born July 27, 1915 near Bruno, Nebraska to John A. and Tonie (Pratt) Ptacek. He attended District #61 School south of Bruno and a Farm Operators Course at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. On November 17, 1941 Vladimir was united in marriage to Sophie C. Navratil at Holy Trinity Church in Brainard. The couple lived and farmed west of Bruno until moving to Columbus in 1967. Vladimir worked as a machinist for Behlen Manufacturing until retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Knights Of Columbus and a 4-H Leader. Vladimir enjoyed woodworking, fishing and polka music.
