Viola Schmid

Viola C. Schmid, 86, of Bellwood died Tuesday, August 29 at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood. The Rev. Scott M. Courtney will officiate. Visitation is Thursday after 5:00 p.m. at the church in Bellwood. A vigil will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Ss. Peter &Mary Cemetery in rural Bellwood.

Viola C. Schmid was born October 3, 1919 in Butler County to Frank and Mary (Delahamet) Eller. She grew up in Butler County and attended Marrietta Grade School and graduated from Marrietta High School in 1937. She was married by Msg. Dan Cooper to Robert L. Schmid on May 25, 1943 at Marrietta Catholic Church. They lived in Orlando, Florida where Robert was in the Air Force. When they returned they lived and farmed in the Bellwood area for 53 years. In June of 2000 they moved into the town of Bellwood. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Bellwood. She was also a member of P.C.C.W., and American Legion Auxiliary. She served as the sacristan at church for 8 years. Viola also did sewing for the church and donated the pall used for funerals.
