Viola Barbara Jarosz was born December 14, 1928 in rural Humphrey, Nebraska to John and Elizabeth (Ruhkamp) Wieser. She received her education at St. Marys Catholic School in rural Humphrey and graduated from St. Francis High School in Humphrey. She worked at the Meadow Gold Creamery for a period of time. Viola married Benedict Jarosz on May 20, 1953 at St. Marys Catholic Church. After their marriage they farmed near Tarnov and Columbus and finally settled in Platte Center. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, St. Anns where she served as past president and was a 53 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she also served as president. Viola enjoyed bowling and playing cards and games with her grandchildren. She was sports fan and followed Husker football, volleyball, baseball and the Kansas City Royals. She loved her flowers and canning for everyone, especially her dill pickles.
