Vernice Ida Voigt, age 90, died Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Brookstone Acres in Columbus. 

Funeral Services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Columbus First Baptist Church. Visitation is Tuesday, December 2 from 3-5 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue December 3 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial is in Shell Creek Baptist Cemetery. 

Vernice Ida Voigt was born November 21, 1935, to Willie J and Ida (Schwanke) Menke in Columbus. She graduated high school in Columbus. Vernice was united in marriage to Edwin F. Voigt on June 3, 1955, at the Shell Creek Baptist Church north of Columbus. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, reading, gardening and baking. Vernice’s passion was hospitality and hosting gatherings for her friends and family. She could often be found striking up a conversation with one of her many friends or neighbors.
