Vera Pillen of Omaha, formerly of Columbus died Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Douglas County Health Center in Omaha.
Vera Pillen was born April 24, 1934 in Turton, South Dakota to George and Anna Mae (Conley) Pembroke. She graduated from Turton High School and received her teaching certificate from Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Vera married Rolland T. Grohs on February 4, 1956 in Turton, South Dakota. Following his death on July 21, 1977 she later married Dale D. Pillen on November 21, 1984 at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. Vera worked as a teacher, bookkeeper & secretary retiring from N.P.P.D. in 1996. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and St. Joseph Church in Platte Center.
