Gerald Tyke Hastings was born August 20, 1937 in Stromsburg, NE to DeWitt Dee and Dorothy (Bazer) Hastings. He grew up on the farm south of Silver Creek and attended District 31 school. Tyke worked for area farmers and Grosch Irrigation. He entered the Osceola Good Samaritan Center in 2000. Tyke enjoyed fishing.

4 Nieces Cindy (Jeff) Bell of Hickman, NE, Debbie (Mark) Beebout of North Platte, NE, Vicki (Fred) Stoll of Lincoln, NE, and Sandy Hastings of Allen, TX.
