The world became dramatically less entertained this week with the sudden passing of Trina Anne Christensen, 48, who died in a car accident on Sunday, October 19, 2025. In true Trina fashion, she likely left this world mid-laugh, mid-errand, or mid-conversation about her plants.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM Thursday, October 23, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at McKown Rice Funeral Home in Genoa. Visitation will continue Thursday from 9:30-10:30 AM at the church.
In lieu of plants and flowers, please designate memorials to Trina's children.
Trina Anne Christensen was born September 30, 1977, to Wesley Christensen Jr. and Deanna Andreasen in York, Nebraska. She grew up in Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School. As Trina put it, she was the fastest person in the high school, officially placing 7th at state track in the 100-meter dash all four years of high school, even though they only handed medals out for 1st-6th places.
She worked for several different nursing homes, most recently she was at Prairie Village Senior Living. Trina's work blessed several residents over the years. Her work was her passion, cooking resident's their favorite comfort meals and making them truly feel like they were at home. Most recently, Trina was studying to become a registered Dietician.
Trina gave hugs with bone-cracking enthusiasm and laughed like someone who got paid by the decibel. Her laugh could be heard across state lines. If you didn't hear her coming, you definitely felt it when she arrived.
Trina's hobbies included plants, talking about plants, buying plants she didn't need, and fostering more greenery than a botanical garden on steroids. It is widely assumed half of her funeral attendees will be ferns.
Trina was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Trina was a bright light in any room she walked into. She could make friends with just about anyone with her warm personality and contagious laugh. In her honor, please water a plant, hug someone like you're trying to reset their spine, and laugh too loud at something only mildly funny—she'd expect nothing less.
