Twila Korus of Monroe died Friday, September 13, 2013 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Twila "Toots" Korus was born December 7, 1928 on a farm northeast of Monroe to Edward and Edith (Bruhn) Hurner. She grew up in the Monroe area where she remained for her entire life. On October 29, 1946 she was united in marriage to Richard Dick Korus at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. They lived on the farm north of Monroe. Toots went to work at the Monroe Tavern in the 1950s and in 1980 she took over ownership until retiring in 1996. Toots enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, and loved to dance.
