Thomas Schmidt

Thomas V. Schmidt, age 64, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday September 28, 2002 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 2, 2002 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Burial will be in the Ss. Patrick & Joseph Cemetery near Platte Center, Nebraska. Visitation is after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at St. Isidore Church. Visitation continues Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Donors Choice.

Thomas V. Schmidt was born February 8, 1938 in Platte County, Nebraska to Otto and Loretta (Beller) Schmidt. He attended District School in Platte County. On August 22, 1964 he was united in marriage to Patricia Hoelscher at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Tom farmed west of Tarnov until present. The couple moved off the farm to Columbus in 1999. Since moving to Columbus he also worked part time for MARC. Tom was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, St. Michael's church choir, and past president of Husker Co-Op. He loved collecting John Deere antique tractors, bowling, traveling, and camping.
