Thelma Schumacher

Thelma C. Schumacher, age 100, died Monday, February 17, 2025, in Columbus.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. Visitation is Tuesday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial is in Sts. Joseph/Patrick Cemetery.

Thelma Catherine Schumacher was born on January 27, 1925, to Henry and Cecilia (Fraundorfer) Wegener in Cornlea. She graduated from Humphrey St. Francis Catholic School. Following high school, Thelma moved to Omaha and worked for Mutual of Omaha. She would write letters daily to those serving over seas.

On May 5, 1948, Thelma was united in marriage to Matthew Schumacher at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. They took many trips, both stateside and abroad, and enjoyed 76 years of marriage. When her husband started Schumacher Irrigation, she helped run the office for a short time.

Thelma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was active in the St. Ann Society. She enjoyed gardening and all of her grandchildren.
