Ted died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska
Ted Keene Cannon was born October 26, 1922 in Silver Creek, Nebraska to Clyde W. and Hulda (Ruff) Cannon. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1939. He then graduated from Reppert School of Auctioneering in 1942. He married Mildred I. Thurstonson on December 30, 1944 at the Fairview Church near Silver Creek. Ted served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre and Occupied Japan during WWII. Following the service Ted returned to Silver Creek where he farmed and ranched south of Silver Creek. He raised, trained and raced standard bred, thoroughbred and quarter horses. Ted was active in rodeos, participating in calf roping and steer wrestling. He was an early member of the Rodeo Cowboys Association. Ted was a Clear Creek 4-H Club leader for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and usually kept a pack of coyote hounds. Ted always did his own mechanic, repair and farrier work.
