Tecla Briggs age 101 died Saturday, November 2, 2024 in Boothbay Harbor,  Maine

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. November 14, 2024 at the McKown Funeral Home. Visitation is Wednesday 3-5 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. vigil service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

Tecla was born May 14, 1923 in Genoa, Nebraska to Berndt and Rebecca (Jensen) Olson. At the age of 1 they moved off the farm and moved 5 miles south of Lindsay. She attended District #64 and graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1941. She lived in Columbus and worked for the Gottburg Auto Company and at the bomber plant in Omaha, She was united in marriage to Henry F. Briggs on May 25, 1951 at St. Patrick Church in Sidney. She later worked at Schwesers Clothing Store in Columbus. Tecla enjoyed sewing doll clothing and embroidery work. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and Ladies of the Lord.

Tecla is survived by her daughter: Dorothy (Roger) Hurt of Boothbay, Maine, grandson: Michael (Kristi) Stewart, great granddaughter: Kordelya Stewart, brothers: Karl Olson and Roger Olson

She was preceded in death by her husband: Henry, daughter: Ellen Stewart and brothers: Howard, Leonard, Stanley, Norman, and Robert.
