Sylvia Bukacek

Sylvia Bukacek of Columbus died Thursday, April 23 at her daughter's home in Columbus after a short illness.

Sylvia Bukacek was born February 6, 1926 in Tabor, SD to Frank and Stella (Burger) Blaha. She grew up in Geddes, SD and as a teenager she moved to Howells, NE. She graduated in 1942 from Howells High School. Sylvia married Frank Bukacek on April 23, 1946 at St. Mary's Church. They lived on a farm by Dodge and then moved to Clarkson and owned a business. They moved to Columbus in 1966. Sylvia worked at various businesses and spent the last 26 years at the Elks Country Club greeting everyone with a smile. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and feeding the birds and squirrels.
