Sylvester &Quot;Sonny&Quot; Starzec

Sylvester A. "Sonny" Starzec of Columbus died Friday, May 29, 2015 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

Sylvester Adam "Sonny" Starzec was born December 16, 1923 in Cedar Rapids, NE to Stanley and Mary (Jarosz) Starzec. He grew up on a farm in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1941. In October of 1955 he was united in marriage to Bernice Micek in Fullerton. Sonny worked various jobs including being a fireman, Meadow Gold Milk, was co-owner of the Avenue Bar with his brother Al, and retired from Combined Insurance. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus and Perpetual Adoration. Sonny was a lifelong member of the Scotus Shamrock Club.

Sonny enjoyed family gatherings, sharing stories with family and friends, gardening, listening to audio books, and all sporting events on the radio and TV. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Son Steve (Kim) Starzec of Thornton, CO
Eleven Grandchildren
Seven Great Grandchildren

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Bonaventure Church or to Scotus Central Catholic High School
