Steven Bryant, age 73, died Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his home in Genoa.
Steven Michael Bryant arrived on September 9, 1952, in Pittsburg, CA. His parents are Leonard Alonzo Bryant and JoAnn (Martin) Bryant. The son of a career Army serviceman, Steven spent much of his childhood moving frequently, both within the United States and abroad. He attended Columbus High School.
Steven joined the Air Force as soon as he turned of age and spent eight years as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Following his military service, Steven built a long and dedicated career at Dale/Vishay Electronics, where he worked for 35 years as a Maintenance Technician before retiring in 2019.
While stationed in Thailand, Steven met and married Lumyai (“Awl”) Hoile and became a devoted father to her daughters, Mayura and Mayuret. The family later moved to Colorado and then to Columbus, Nebraska, where Steven and Awl welcomed their third daughter, Christine.
In 2012, Steven met Janet Nyffler, who would become his life partner and wife. Together they shared a quiet, content life until his passing in Genoa, NE, on January 8, 2026.
Steven could fix almost anything—including renovating an old farmhouse in Leigh, NE—and loved travel, camping, movies, and researching and learning new things on YouTube.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard, and survived by his wife, Janet Nyffler; mother, JoAnn Bryant; “his girls”—Mayura Latenser/Gail Peterson, Mayuret Bryant, Christine Bryant/Paul Watkinson; siblings, Leonard (Shaun) Bryant/Anita Bryant, Cathy Tinius, and Jonathan Bryant; and grandchildren, Bella Latenser and John (JJ) Latenser. Special mention: Awl and Richard Hoile; Mayuree, Russell, and Fifa Krings; Rusty Nyffler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family for distribution to a charitable organization he held close to his heart. A service with Military Honors by The American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Private family interment will take place in Rushville, Nebraska.
A celebration of Steven's life, doing what he enjoyed most—camping—will take place in the summer.
