Shirley Ann Torson, age 80, of Columbus died Monday, July 16, 2012 at Morys Haven in Columbus.
Shirley was born March 16, 1932 in St. Edward, Nebraska to Oliver and Hazel (Apple) Nordeen. She received her education at District #66, West Hill, Bogus and St. Edward High. She married Adam R. Torson on December 12, 1950 in Albion, Nebraska. During her high school years she worked as a waitress. Following her marriage she worked at Gembols in Columbus, She and Adam owned and operated the Torson Tavern in Duncan. She also worked at B-D and Dales in Columbus. In 1990 they moved to Schuyler to manage the Valley Court Motel, retiring in 1999. She was also an area manager for World Book and an Avon Representative for many years. Shirley loved crocheting, needle work and was an avid reader.
Shirley is survived by her daughters: Cindy (Ken) Slusarski of Duncan, Melody (Norbert) Drueppel of Schuyler, Barb (Dave) Iwan of Duncan, Denise (Larry Divis) Tschantre of Columbus. 12 grandchildren , 17 great grandchildren. Sisters: Pat (Pete) Carnahan of Fremont, Lois Nordeen of Yakima, WA, Brother: Max (Bonnie) Nordeen of St. Edward,
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Adam, 5 brothers: Glenn, Richard, Bob, Donald, Duane and 1 sister: Mildred Nordeen.
