Shirley Schmidt was born September 13, 1929 in Polk County, Nebraska to William (Bill) and Lena Meyer Hansen. On June 4, 1949, Shirley married John R. Schmidt in Columbus. Shirley loved life and enjoyed doing volunteer work. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents: William & Lena Hansen, husband: John R. Schmidt, sons: Mark and Duane Schmidt.
