Shirley Kolm of Denver died Friday January 1, 2010 of respiratory failure at Rose Medical Center in Denver.
Shirley Jean Kolm was born September 29, 1924 in Albion, Nebraska the second child of Otto and Anna (Hansen) Kolm, who farmed near Primrose at the time. Shirley graduated from Albion High School in 1941 and the Van Sant School of Business in Omaha in 1942.
She worked for Nebraska Public Power in Albion and Columbus until she relocated to Denver in 1962. There she was employed with Quaker Oats Company, IBM, and the National Education Association, where she worked for 20 years until she retired in 1986.
Shirley enjoyed golfing, took flying lessons and was an enthusiastic cook, baker and bridge player, which she taught her nephews to play when they were children.
She is survived by her brother Gerald and his wife Irma of Fremont, Nebraska, two nephews, Paul and his wife Amy of Stone Mountain, GA; David and his wife Marianne of Alexandria, VA; two great nephews, Jeffrey and his wife Penny and Jonathan; three great great nieces, Candice, Zoe and Avery.
