Shirley Ann (Kurtenbach) Hoessel was born on July 14, 1950 to Arthur & Elaine (Cook) Kurtenbach. She spent her early years on a farm in St. Bernard. After moving to Columbus, she attended St. Bonaventure Elementary and graduated from Scotus High School in 1968. Shirley worked at Dale Electronics from 1981 until her retirement in 2017 gaining many friends along the way. In addition to Dales/Vishay, Shirley always worked a 2nd job to solely raise her 4 daughters. She met the love of her life, Gene, while country dancing. Shirley asked Gene to dance and they were united in marriage at St. Paul's church in rural Leigh, NE on July 30, 1994. What a love story that turned out to be! Shirley and Gene enjoyed traveling, camping, dancing and riding their motorcycle, often with family and friends. A devout catholic, Shirley volunteered at St. Bon's in the rectory, church cleaning committee, holy hour and served a term as President of Ladies of the Lord. Shirley was a friend to everyone she met. Her beautiful smile is a reflection of her fun, loving and kind personality. Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mom, sister and friend, who will be dearly missed.
