Shirley Czuba, age 85 of Columbus died Tuesday at the Osceola Good Samaritan Center.
Shirley was born on September 19, 1927 in Souris, Manitoba Canada to Robert and Elsie (Kerslake) McClement. She completed her high school education in Brandon, Mantitoba and graduated from Brandon General Hospital School of Nursing. In 1981 she graduated from Kearney State College with a bachelor of science.
While living in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, she was employed as an operating room nurse at the University Hospital. While living in San Francisco she was employed at Southern Pacific Hospital. She then worked at Hartness Hospital as the operating room supervisor. Shirley later worked at Childrens Hospital. She was an active member of the California Association of Operating Room Nurses.
On March 13, 1976, she was united in marriage to Ray in San Francisco, California. They made their home on a farm southwest of Columbus and he is engaged in farming. Shirley was a clinical instructor with the LPN Program from 1977 to retirement in 1992 for Central Community College in Columbus. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, sewing, cooking and antiquing.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Elsie McClement, brother: Jim (Bernice) McClement, sisters: Donna (Bill) Owens, Pat (Bill) Huber, Leah (Jim) Fisher and nephew: Christopher Comley.
Survivors include her husband Ray of Columbus, Twin sister: Sheila (Bill) Comley of Lafayette, CA, brother: Dennis (Gwen) McClement of Carman, MB. , sister: Nora (Les) Gerhardt of Moosomin, Sask., along with many nieces, nephew, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors
