Sheri Evelyn James

Sheri Evelyn James, 71, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at Creamery Creek Memory Care in Stoddard, Wisconsin. She was born on August 14, 1953, in Kewanee, Illinois, to Thomas and Lucille (Tanner) Smith. Sheri's gentle spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on January 18th, 2025 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 10:00 a.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Burial is in Roselawn Cemetery.

Sheri spent much of her life in Columbus, Nebraska, after moving from Kewanee, Illinois in 1987. She worked at the YMCA and BD medical – working hard and cultivating countless friendships. She brought joy and comfort to her family. Four years ago, Sheri moved to Sparta, Wisconsin, where she continued to spread her light and love.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, always taking the time to appreciate the world around her. She enjoyed Dr. Pepper, bowling, knitting, watching movies, and spending time with family.

Sheri is survived by her children: son, Dale Burger of Columbus, NE; daughters, Kellie (Andy) Reeder of Columbus, NE, Shellie (Derek) Rhoads of Columbus, NE, and Melissa (Gerrad) Deal of Sparta, WI; brother, Thomas (Annie) Smith of Bowman, GA; --- grandchildren; CJ and Billy Reeder, Kaia Foulk, Dylan and Chelsea Rhoades, Bruce Deal;---great grandchildren; Carter, Bentley, PaizLee, Dax; other relatives and friends.

Sheri was preceded in death by her parents and sister; Gloria Smith-Durant.
