Sandra Szelag

Sandra K. Szelag of Columbus died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha.

Sandra K. Szelag was born September 28, 1953 in Newman Grove to Donald "Stetz" and Velma (Ashby) Dreifurst. She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1971. On October 13, 1973 she was united in marriage to John Szelag at St. Isidore Catholic Church. To this union they had two children, Angela and Corey. Sandy ran an in home daycare so that she could stay at home to raise their two children. She also helped with the family business, the Oasis Bar. Sandy has been an employee of BD Medical for the past 9 years. Sandy was an active member of the bowling association in Columbus where she served in numerous capacities, and where she earned her nickname, "The Quiet One". Sandy loved scrapbooking, horse races, slot machines, and playing poker in her card club, but above all else, she loved spending time with her friends and family.
