Ruth died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Mory's Haven in Columbus.
Ruth Mae Syslo was born May 27, 1925 in Columbus, Nebraska to George and Barbara (Triba) Ewert and was baptized at St. Bonaventure Church. She graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1943. She was junior class president and a cheerleader her senior year. She was also in the Fidelity Club and sang for her senior class prom. She had a beautiful singing voice. She was united in marriage to Leo Syslo on June 25, 1947 at St. Bonaventure Church. Following her graduation she worked as a proof reader at the Columbus Telegram, for her father as a book keeper at George Ewert Implement Co. and George Ewert Motor Co. in Columbus. She also worked at Columbus Credit Bureau. Ruth enjoyed singing, dancing, playing the piano, listening to music,reading, watching football games and Lawrence Welk. Her family was her life and she enjoyed spending time with them. Ruth was cherished by many people. She was a wonderful mother, grandma, and great grandma and will be dearly missed. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and St. Isidore Church. Memorials are suggested to St. Bonaventure or family choice.
