Ruth died Monday, April 28, 2014 at David Place in David City, Nebraska.
Ruth Margaret Meister was born April 20, 1924 to Conrad and Mae (Schmidt) Meister in Bellwood, Nebraska. Ruth attended Elm Creek School near Bellwood. Ruth graduated from David City Public High School in 1941, obtained her teachers certificate and taught school for three years in Appleton, Nebraska. In 1943 she met Clarence Krafka while at a social and dance in Appleton. They were married on May 16, 1944 in Bellwood at St. Peters Church. Clarence and Ruth made their first home on a farm outside Valparaiso moving in 1947 to a farm east of Bellwood where they raised their family, farmed and operated a trucking business until Clarences retirement in 1985. Ruth dedicated her life to raising the ten children born to this union and later was an active part in the lives of their 20 plus grandchildren. Beginning in 1981, Clarence and Ruth began to travel to Phoenix, Arizona during the winter, eventually establishing a second home in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ruth enjoyed the time she spent in Arizona and greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. In May of 1994 Clarence and Ruth celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends. Ruth was a devout Catholic and an active member of Presentation Parish (Marietta) and later St. Peters Church in Bellwood contributing to numerous parish activities, groups and cookbooks. After the death of her husband Clarence, in 2007 Ruth resided first at St. Josephs Villa and then at David Place Retirement Home in David City. As long as she was able, Ruth continued to make frequent trips to the farm in Bellwood.
