Roy Koziol, age 74, died Monday, July 27, 2026, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation is Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil service, all at McKown Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by The American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Roy P. Koziol was born on June 27, 1952, to John P. and Laura P. (Zoucha) Koziol in Columbus. He attended school and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis Catholic High School. He then went on and attended classes at Platte College. Following his course work at Platte College, Roy bravely answered the call to serve his Country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for a few years in Dallas, Texas for the US government. Roy then returned to Columbus, where he worked for the Platte County Sheriff’s Department for over 20 years. Following his time at the Sheriff’s department, he worked as an assistant manager at the choice.
Roy enjoyed being outside in nature and being with his family. He also had a passion for music, specifically Polish Music, and played with many local bands in the Columbus area. He was an avid traveler and sports fan, specifically for the Nebraska Huskers.
Roy was a good person with a heart of gold. He was a loving son, loyal brother and a devoted friend to many.

Sister: Barbara Koziol of Columbus
Brother: Lonnie Koziol of John Day, Oregon
Uncle: Bob (Jane) Zoucha of Omaha
Many cousins and extended family members.
