Rose Ellen Vanek

Rose Ellen Vanek passed away on Saturday morning, November 3, 2018, at her home.

Rose Ellen Shalon was born to Thomas and Anna Shalon on June 4, 1945, in David City, NE. Rose Ellen grew up on her family's farm northeast of Brainard, NE. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School and graduated from East Butler High School. Rose Ellen worked for a brief time in Lincoln prior to being employed at the Butler County Treasurers Office. She was united in marriage to Louis J Vanek on April 18, 1970. Rose Ellen then accepted a position working at the Platte County Treasurers Office. She left her job to raise their children Jeff, Jeremy, and Kari. Later she went back to work as a market researcher for A. C. Nielsen before spending over 20 years as a Paraprofessional at St. Bonaventure Catholic Preschool. Most recently she enjoyed assisting in daycare for her granddaughters. Rose Ellen enjoyed traveling, going out with friends and family as well as shopping and going to craft shows. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and a 39 year member of the C.D.A.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Eugene Shalon.

She is survived by husband - Louis of Columbus; children - Jeff (Jeanie) Vanek of Lenexa, KS, Jeremy (Melissa) Vanek of Omaha, NE, Kari (Travis) Kracl of Schuyler, NE; Grandchildren - Louie & Rickey Vanek of Lenexa, KS, Anna Vanek of Omaha, NE, Alexis & Allison Kracl of Schuyler, NE.
