Rose Koza, 86, of Columbus died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 am Saturday, April 2 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Tom Weisbecker officiating. Visitation is on Friday from 4-7 pm at McKown Funeral Home with a Vigil service to follow at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home. Visitation continues Saturday morning from 8-10 am at McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Silver Creek.
Rose Koza was born May 29, 1918 in Genoa, NE to John and Anna (Zelasney) Kmiecik. She attended rural Polk County Schools. She married Henry Koza on June 1, 1938 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. Rose and her husband owned and operated the International Implement Store in Silver Creek from 1945-1952. From 1952 until the time of her husbands death on October 13, 1966, they owned and operated the Pioneer Ballroom in Silver Creek. From 1965 until 1980, Rose worked at Dale Electronics until retiring. She lived in Silver Creek until moving to Columbus in 1974. While living in Silver Creek, Rose was a member of St. Lawrence Church and St. Lawrence Altar Society. In Columbus she was a member of St. Bonaventure Church. She loved bingo, dancing, and playing cards.
