Rose Coffin, age 95, of Osceola died Sunday; March 7, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Osceola. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday; March 10, 2004 at the McKown Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Paul Rowoldt will officiate. Burial will be in the Circle Mound Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8-10 a.m. Wednesday at the McKown Funeral Home.
Rose Coffin was born August 27, 1908 on a farm north of Shelby, Nebraska to James and Lydia (Allen) Thompson. She grew up in a family with 11 children. She received her education at rural Polk County Schools. She married Clarence L. Coffin on October 27, 1926 in David City, Nebraska. The couple lived and farmed in Butler and Polk County. In 1966 the couple moved to Shelby. Clarence died on March 18, 2003. Rose enjoyed doing needle work and embroidery and baking. Over the years, Rose made many quilts for her family and friends.
