Ronald A. Schmid, age 88, of Bellwood died Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Butler County Health Care Center.
Ronald was born February 8, 1926 to Emil and Rose Ann (Shields) Schmid. He married Barbara "Bobbie" Salak on August 6, 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1952. Ronald served on various boards throughout the years, including the Co-op Oil Company in Bellwood. He was a life time farmer who was an early egg producer in the area to implement caged layer production in his operation with the first chicken house built in 1963. He retired from fulltime farming in 1990. He competed in the Nebraska mechanical corn picking contest for several years, winning the two row division in 1959 and 1961. After retirement he enjoyed his hobby farming with his son, Aaron, gardening and lawn mowing. Ronald lived his entire life on the family farm built by his parents west of Bellwood.

Great Grandchild: Kaiden Justus
Sister-in-Law & Brother-in-law: Debbie (David) Brown of Schuyler
He was preceded in death by his parents: Emil and Rose Ann, infant son: Shawn, brother: Elmo and sister: Marjorie Rust.
