Ronald Lassek of Columbus, died Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Prairie Village in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation is on Tuesday from 5-7 pm with a 7:00 pm Vigil service, all at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 9:30 am until service time at St. Anthony Church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard
Ronald Casimir Lassek was born April 7, 1932 on a farm near Fullerton, NE to Casimir and Helen (Shemek) Lassek. He graduated from Columbus (Kramer) High School in 1950. He was in the United States Air Force from 1952 – 1956. He graduated from Wichita State University in 1963 and received his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1968. Ron spent his entire working career in the Aerospace Industry working at The Boeing Company, General Dynamics and retired in 1997 from Lockheed-Martin Corporation in Fort Worth, Texas. A significant milestone was his involvement in the Apollo missions which included the landing on the moon. Ron returned to Columbus in 2018.
Ron's main hobby was working on family genealogy in which he traced his family roots to the 17 th century. Ron also enjoyed collecting old coins.
