Roland Schaecher

Roland A. Schaecher, age 86, of Columbus died Friday, February 22, 2008 at his home in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation is Monday 4-7 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. vigil service all at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Joseph Miksch will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Building Fund.

Roland Anthony Schaecher was born January 18, 1922 in Lindsay, Nebraska to George and Mary (Winkler) Schaecher. He graduated from Lindsay High in 1940. Roland married Alice Wilhelm on August 19, 1942 in Lindsay, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942-1946. Following the war he returned and farmed for 10 years before joining Dale Electronics. He worked as an product engineer for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. He was very active member of St. Isidore Church, Knight of Columbus Council #12086, and a member of VIPS-Visually Impaired.

12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers: Larry and George.
