Roland "Rollie" Davidson, Age 86 of Columbus passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, at home.
His mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 on Friday, March 22, 2023, at St. Isidore's Church in Columbus. Burial will be held at All Saints Cemetery. His visitation, with his family present, will be from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, vigil to follow at St. Isidore's Church.
Rollie was born on May 31, 1937, in Stanton, Nebraska to his parents David and Maija Davidson. Rollie grew up on a farm near Stanton and graduated from Stanton High School in 1955. Rollie then entered the USAF and served four years as a crew chief on a F-86 Fighter jet. He was stationed for most of his military service in France and South Africa. He was honorably discharged from duty in 1959 and worked for Pepsi Cola as a Sales Manager in 1960 and lived in the Columbus area. In 1967 Rollie started his career with State Farm Insurance as an agent and retired in 2004. He took great pride in not only helping his clients but also being a mentor to new agents starting their career. Rollie met his lifelong partner and spouse Betty Davidson in 1959 and they were married on February 6, 1960. They made their home in Columbus for the last 63 years raising five children Debbie, Shelly, Christy, Brian and Suzanne.
Spending time with family, friends and his faith in God was of utmost importance to Rollie. He was an active member of St. Isidore Church, long time Chairman of church bingo and active volunteer for the church and Scotus Booster Club. He enjoyed family vacations to Minnesota, watching Grandkids' & Great Grandkids' activities, and watching Husker sports and the Chicago Cubs. Rollie and Betty were blessed with the opportunity to travel abroad to Europe and many countries, but their utmost enjoyment was their 31 annual fishing trip they took with family and friends to Canada.
Rollie was always willing to mentor those that wanted his advice and enjoyed conversation with anyone he met. Rollie's other activities included fishing, dancing, golfing, gardening and tinkering in his garage.
Rollie is survived by his children Debbie Wissler, Shelly (Jerome) Stolinski, Christy (Dave) Insinger, Brian (Della) Davidson, Suzanne (James) Davis; 11 Grand Children and 25Great-Grand Children. Preceding Rollie in death is his wife Betty, His parents, Son-in-Law James Wissler, Brother and Sister-in-law Delbert and Vi Davidson, Sister and Brother-in-law Margaret and Emil Mastny.
Memorials can be directed to St. Isidore Parish Center fund or Columbus Hospice. Family would like to extend our appreciation to the wonderful caregivers for the love and support they gave mom and dad.
