Roger A. Fuchs

Roger Alan Fuchs was born June 24, 1957 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Lawrence and Julia (Bell) Fuchs. He grew up in Belden and attended the Grade School there. Then, he attended Randolph High School where he was active in football, having the honor of playing in the Shrine Bowl following his graduation in 1975.
Participating in Boy Scouts through the years with his dad and brothers nurtured his love of adventure and outdoors, culminating with him achieving the Eagle Scout Award.

He started his college career at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. After a couple years, he worked full time for the Burlington Northern Railroad. Later, he returned to UNL to finish his degree, earning a BS in Education in 1985. During this time, he met Terri DeMuth of Creighton and they were married December 29, 1984. They lived in Lincoln, Grand Island and then settled in Columbus, NE.
Roger spent his career as an insurance adjuster working for Farmers Mutual of Nebraska and then Farmers Mutual Hail Company of Iowa. Later, he opened his own business, Swift Claim Service.

He was the proud father of two sons, Josh and Chris. He enjoyed taking the family skiing to Colorado most winters. They spent many fun weekends camping, boating & fishing with Terri's family at Lewis and Clark Recreation area near Yankton, SD. Memories were made on road trips to the West Coast.
During his growing up years in Belden, he began his love of shooting sports starting out shooting pellet guns with his brothers. He enjoyed teaching his own boys target practice. Hunting and outdoor activities were enjoyed at his Aunt Esther's cabin near Columbus. He was an active member of Columbus Rifle Club.

It was not uncommon to receive a phone call from Roger, while he was en route to one of his jobs, as he enjoyed keeping in touch with all the family. He frequently stopped in to visit his parents, taking his dad around to monitor the bluebird trail and help with their fix-it list.

Roger passed away at home on June 19, 2016. His great sense of humor and overall friendliness will be forever remembered by his wife, Terri and sons, Josh and Chris; his parents, Lawrence & Julia Fuchs, his brothers, Phil (Marsha) of Ainsworth, NE; Ted (Shelly) Fuchs of Ellis, KS; David (Pam) Fuchs of St. Louis, MO; sister Patty (Rich) Schulte of Belden, NE; his parents in-law Ray & Marian, DeMuth, brother in-law Tom (Pat) DeMuth, sister-in-laws Christa (James) Eggers all of Creighton, NE and sister-in-law, Pat (Tim) Behrens of Elkhorn, NE., and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
