Roger Boss, age 69, died Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his home in Bellwood.
Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation is Monday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial is in Bellwood Cemetery.
Roger Dee Boss was born on July 31st, 1954, to Dellvina (Hill) and Edward Boss in Columbus, NE. He met his lifelong sweetheart, Mary Syslo, in Jr. High and they began dating in high school. They wed on February 14th, 1975 and have never left each other's side. Stemming from Roger and Mary's marriage were three children, Shawn, Roderick and Megan.
Roger graduated in 1974 from Columbus High School. He started working at Home Plumbing at age 21. He then started his own business in 1989, Boss Plumbing +, and operated that until his cancer forced him into retirement. He made many lifelong friends through his work.
Roger lived in Bellwood, Nebraska for a majority of his life. He was avid outdoorsmen and loved fishing and hunting. He was known for his sense of humor and hearty laugh. He spent recent years enjoying spending time with his grandchildren and seeing his legacy grow.
Roger died how he lived, on his own terms, surrounded by family at home. He was a fighter and fought until the very end, determined to go fishing this spring.
Roger leaves behind his wife, Mary, son Shawn (Mari) of Columbus, Roderick (Jillian) of David City, and Megan (Joseph) of David City to cherish his memory. His legacy of grandchildren and step-grandchildren include Braxton, Destin, Emma, Alisander, Ethan, Safiya, Sadie, and Jase. He is also survived by two siblings, Jack and Nancy; in-laws: Dave, Jean & Dale
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Dellvina and Edward; his siblings, Jim, Marie, Janice, JoAnn, Steve, and Paul; sisters-in-law: Bonnie and Jane; brothers-in-law: Jerry, Bobby, Brian.
