Robert Swope of Columbus, lifelong resident of St. Louis, MO died Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Emerald Nursing and Rehab in Columbus.

Mass of Christian Burial is 5:00 pm Tuesday, August 25 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Family will receive friends from 4-5 pm at the Church. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Robert Swope, father to to Deborah Blue of Virginia; Mark (Sandy) Swope of Columbus; Louise (Dave) Jenkins of Nevada; Richard (Julie) Swope of Nevada; Grandfather to Zeph (Elizabeth) Swope, Sarah (Matt) Marksmeier, Catherine, Paul, Anna Swope, Crystal (Cody) Catlett, Justin Blue, Elliot, Ryan Turner, Ashley Carrier, Sydney (Chris) Fordyce, and Jordan Swope. 20 Great Grandchildren.

Brother-in-law of Larry (Jonella) Birlin; Ken (MaryEllen) Birlin; and Terry (Chuck) Rohde

Uncle to Andy (Teresa) Rohde and Melissa (Ryan) Nevitt, Great Uncle to Peyton and Reid Nevitt, and Ella, Oliver, and Henry Rohde.

He is preceded in death by: Wife Jackie, Parents Leo and Betty Swope, Sister-in-laws Barbara (Gary) Gillespi and Franciscan Sister Pat Birlin

Bob led a long and vibrant life. He had many engineering jobs that he enjoyed. Bob was an author writing 100+ books and was a volunteer coach at schools in St. Louis. He was an avid fan of the the St. Louis teams. Bob loved spending time time with his grandchildren telling them many entertaining stories.
