Robert Schmidt

Robert "Bob" Schmidt died Monday, September 18, 2107 at his home in Platte Center.

Robert "Bob" Schmidt was born December 21, 1937 in Platte County to Albert and Louella (Beller) Schmidt. He attended Platte County schools and finished his education at Wattsville District 20. Bob started working for the Platte County Highway Department in 1956. On May 20, 1967, Bob was united in marriage to Barbara Jazwick at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. He worked as a grading crew foreman for 11 years before going to work as the Assistant Superintendent in 1974. Bob became the Highway Superintendent in 1979 until retiring in December of 1996. Bob enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors, golfing, card playing, bowling, softball, and fishing. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Cemetery Board, the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and participated in the annual Platte Center 4th of July Parade.
