Robert L. Raitt

Robert L. Bob Raitt, age 84, of Columbus, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his home in Columbus.

Robert was born May 6, 1932 in North Bend, Nebraska to William and Maryann (Schulte) Raitt. He grew up in St. Edward and graduated from St. Edward High in 1950. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from December 7, 1951 until December 6, 1954. He returned to the Jasa Farm where he worked. On December 1, 1956 he married Mary Alice McPhillips at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. They lived in Omaha, Lincoln, and Wahoo before moving to Columbus in April 18, 1965. He managed Consumers Coop Association. Following his retirement he farmed in Nance County. Bob was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church. He was an avid football fan, especially the Huskers. Bob always wanted to be remembered as an S.O.B.-Sweet Old Bob.
