Robert Lisco Powers, 79, of Silver Creek died Monday, November 19, 2007 at Mory's Haven in Columbus. Funeral Services are 2:00 pm Friday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with the Rev. Tamara Holtz officiating. Visitation is prior to the service on Friday from 11:00-2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. Interment is in the Silver Creek Cemetery.
Robert "Bob" L. Powers was born June 26, 1928 in Silver Creek to Charles Ned and Sylvia Madeline (Pennington) Powers. He grew up in Silver Creek and graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1946. Bob married Bethel Jean Norris on October 26, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Silver Creek. Bob trucked from coast to coast and into Canada hauling produce, freight, petroleum products and steel for 49 years. The couple lived in Silver Creek. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church where he helped with communion setup. He was a member of Silver Creek Masonic Lodge and the Silver Creek Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. Bob enjoyed listening to Country Music and the Polka Radio Show, watching games shows (especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune), doing word search puzzles, drives in the country, family time and going uptown for coffee with his friends..
