Robert &Quot;Red&Quot; Murphy

Robert "Red" D. Murphy, 68, of Columbus died Friday, January 20, 2006 at Mory's Haven in Columbus. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Mike Christensen officiating. Military Honors will be by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation is Monday from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home.

Robert D. "Red" Murphy was born January 9, 1938 in Columbus, Nebraska to Frank J. and Catherine E. (Novicki) Murphy. He attended Columbus Schools and graduated from Kramer High in 1956. After several years in the U.S. Navy, he's been a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his very special friend and companion, Marva LaRay Van Velkinburgh; brothers: Jim, Pat, and Tom; sisters: Judy (Teenie) Jones and Connie Bonk; brothers-in-law: Dick Christensen and William Brandt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Verna (Brandt); brother, Tim; sister, Rose Marie Christensen.

Mr. Murphy's body was donated to science.

The family requests no flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
