Robert "Bob" Kline went to his eternal home on Monday, January 27, 2020. He passed away at Brookestone Meadows in Elkhorn, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation is Thursday 4-6 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. There will be a 6:00 p.m. Vigil service at the funeral home. Visitation continues Friday morning 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 am at the McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Parish or the American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.
Bob was born on a farm near Cozad, Nebraska on April 14, 1926 to Ray and Clara (Selk) Kline. After graduating from Cozad High School he attended the University of Nebraska before entering the Army where he proudly served in WWII from July of 1944 till August of 1946. Upon completion of his military service, Bob was a state patrolman for 4 years. It was during this time, when off duty, a blue-eyed waitress at the Adam's Café captured his heart and a long love story began. Bob married Betty Beiermann on September 22, 1949 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. They made their home in Columbus, had 4 children, during which time he had a 38 year career at First National Bank.
Bob was active in the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and the City Park Board. He was also a member of the American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard where he served as Secretary/Treasurer and was a recipient of the Keith Bryan Award. In his retirement he played many rounds of golf and drank a lot of coffee with friends. He and Betty traveled to places near and far and enjoyed time with friends, family and grandkids.
