Robert "Bob" Hanke, age 83, died Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation is 5:00-7:00 Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment with Military Honors by The American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard is in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
Robert was born on March 15, 1941, in Lindsay, NE to Clarence and Marie (Keimig) Hanke. He graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1964 and was stationed in Honolulu, HI. He returned to Columbus where he met his wife, Connie Horner. They were united in marriage on August 13, 1966. They were married for 58 years. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years. Robert enjoyed watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Westerns, and racing. He also enjoys Harley Davidson motorcycles, spending time outdoors with his family, kids, grandchildren and friends and being a part of the American Legion honor guard.
Robert is survived by his wife, Connie, son Terry (Vickie) of Newport News, VA; son Tim (Kristi) of Urbandale, IA; son Todd (Kristi) of Omaha, NE.
Grandchildren: Jessica (Kiel), Samantha (Tyler), Tanner, Tea, Trey, Taryn, and Taegren.
Great grandchildren: Nash, Josephine, Paxton, and Charlie.
Siblings: Dale (Eldeen) Hanke, Luke Hanke (friend Kathy), Janet McKamy, and MaryKay (Ken) Flegel.
Brother-in-Law: Doug (Chris) Horner
Sister-in-Law: Caroline Hanke
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Marie Hanke, his in-laws Doc and Ida Horner, brother Yogi Hanke, sister-in-law Caroline Hanke, brother-in-law Clem McKamy.
